Dog Days of Summer at Spring Grove and PetFest 2012
The roads of Spring Grove Cemetery are some of the most beautiful around, winding over 45 miles through the 400+ acre cemetery. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the cemetery to enjoy its peaceful beauty, EXCEPT for this Sunday, June 24th, during the Fifth Annual Dog Days of Summer Event. For this day only, your four legged friend can accompany you on your visit through the cemetery. The event activities include Animal Communicator Donetta Zimmerman, a gift basket raffle, the organized Dogwood Trail Walk beginning at 10:00 AM, animal adoptions, professional pet portraits, a picnic with your pooch, and more! As part of the event, Spring Grove’s grief therapy dog, Otis, will be sponsoring a donation drive to benefit Tails of Hope, a tri-state rescue group who saves animals from area kill shelters. Please bring an item from their wishlist to donate and help their cause! Tables and chairs will be set up for you to enjoy your lunch that your bring or buy from the available concessions. This is an event open to the whole family! You definitely don’t want to miss out on your one opportunity of the year to share a beautiful park with your pooch!
Another option for you this Sunday is PetFest 2012 from 11AM to 4PM at Boone Woods Park in Burlington, KY. This event is sponsored by Friends of the Shelter, “a volunteer organization whose purpose is to oppose cruelty in all forms, encourage humane handling and care of animals, advance spay/neuter programs, promote the animal shelters, and strive for responsible adoptions and ownership.” The day’s events include a dog walk with prizes, contests starting at 1PM, demonstrations, a pet psychic, animal related products and services, and more! Are you ready to enjoy an afternoon of fun to help raise money for a wonderful cause?
