4 Pet Food Companies To Know Series: GRANDMA LUCY’S
Who eats dog treats and likes them? Apparently I do. After trying Grandma Lucy’s organic oven baked blueberry dog treats, I found myself giving one and eating one. I’m not sure if this was Grandma Lucy’s intention, but I have never wanted to eat a dog treat before that’s for sure. Their bear shape treats remind me of Teddy Grahams, which come to find out were created and introduced in 1988 by Nabisco.
Grandma Lucy’s has been delivering cooked and freeze dried pet products since 1999. Grandma Lucy’s is our 3rd pet food company to know in our 4 part series. Their very first product was homemade freeze died meatballs, and they were met with huge demand. Since their meatball treats, they have introduced multiple products including their own foods. Their products to this day still use 100% human grade ingredients.
Grandma Lucy’s freeze dries their food to best maintain characteristics of raw. Freeze drying maintains nutrition properties lost when certain foods are cooked. Raw feeding goes back to the belief cats and dogs would not eat cooked food in the wild. Grandma Lucy’s brings convenience to raw feeding. Here is a link to see how freeze-drying works.
Check out Grandma Lucy’s on our online store. It’s exciting to see passion for nutrition exhibited by companies such as Grandma Lucy’s, Champion Pet Foods, and Fromm. What foods do you feed, and have you ever fed your pets raw?
