One of my favorite things about this time of year is having a break from the scorching temperatures for one of my favorite pastimes, running.  If you or your lovable dingo are also a fan of running or walking, then you are going to want to mark your calendar for the inaugural Paw Joggers Rescue Run on Sunday, October 20th, at 10 AM. Boone County Pawapalooza and K9 5k Run/Walk

This Saturday, September 28th, the Boone County Animal Shelter is hosting the 2nd annual Pawapalooza.  The day begins at 8:30 AM at Idlewild Park in Burlington, KY where you can run or walk the K9 5K, with or without your cuddly companion.  Activities for the whole family continue from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Boone County Fairgrounds. Do you ever wonder who is responsible for organizing the care of the many animals who can be displaced after local disasters such as tornadoes or floods?  Tri-State CART is a non-profit disaster response team that focuses on the care of animals during such times of local disaster for 31 counties surrounding Greater Cincinnati. They are not only a resource for local emergency management, but also have been called upon to help in animal hoarding situations. Tri-State CART formed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  At the time of Katrina, the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS)  Act was not yet created.
