It’s Almost Christmas – Don’t Forget Your Pets!

Bobbie and Huggins will be sniffing at their stockings on Christmas morning!

With less than a weeks until Christmas, most of us have made our lists and checked them twice.  But you may want to take a third look at that list to make sure you didn’t leave out any furry family members!  It’s amazing how many pets in America are made part of their family’s Christmas activities.  Here are some interesting facts I thought I would share from a Petfinder.com survey. 63% of dog owners and 58% of cat owners surveyed said they give their pets presents at Christmas. Americans spend about $5 billion on holiday presents for their furry friends! 40% of dog owners and 37% of cat owners hang Christmas stockings for their pets. 27% of dog owners and …

Election Day Special: Pets of the White House

This Cincinnati Zoo tiger probably would love a chance to spend a term in the White House!

While this presidential election is full of serious issues and concerns for the future of our country, I thought I could bring a little lightness to the politics with a fairly non-controversial issue…  As Americans, we sometimes like to distract ourselves with the little things involving the current president like hobbies, the first lady’s fashion, or the pets that they might bring to the White House.  Here are some interesting facts about the pets who have found a home in the White House throughout history… The second president of the United Dates, John Adams, was the first to move into the White House. The Schottzies of the Cincinnati Reds

Nelly is excited for the Reds season to begin!

WOOF!” whenever the Reds scored. – Schottzie made a television debut in 1986 on “Late Night with David Letterman.” – During the 1990 World Series, players and team manager Lou Piniella would …

Why Cats and Dogs Differ

These pups are checking out a cat.

Size is about the only similarity between my lap loving dachshunds and their feline counterparts. Our dogs are so habitual it’s almost comical. Growing up, we had an indoor/outdoor cat that would come and go when he pleased, but you never knew when. Cat and dog owners can be fanatical about why they like one over the other; so let’s take a fun look at a few of their differences. Have you ever giving a cat a bath? You may end up with cat scratch fever if you try! However, the fact that they keep themselves clean is a bonus. For cats, the trainability factor doesn’t go far past the cat litter, while dogs can be trained to provide amazing services. My …
